In fall 2014, Japanese architecture studio Atelier Bow-Wow in collaboration with professor Jesús Vassallo taught the seminar, “Learning from Houston” to study the history and contemporary condition of Houston’s historic “shotgun” houses. The course also simultaneously used this research to design and build a new site-specific installation for Rice Gallery.
In this video, students discuss their design proposals for the future of the shotgun house.
