The Listening Project is a series of free interactive performances at Rice University in which Shepherd School musicians collaborate with community arts leaders. The show starts at 8:00 pm and will last 45 minutes.
Lynn Lane - electronics/sound art
Jennifer Mabus - dance
Emily Nelson - flute
Ben Roidl-Ward - bassoon (SSOM Grad student)
Carson Marshall - violin (SSOM Grad student)
Alexa Thompson - viola (SSOM Grad student)
Hannah Martineau - viola (SSOM Grad student)
Renaud Boucher-Browning - double bass (SSOM Grad student)
The performance will explore how we perceive and respond to sound through music, art, and dance. This event is presented as a collaboration between the Listening Project and the Transitory Sound and Movement Collective, and will feature art, sound, and movement colliding in conversation with the Rice Gallery's exhibition "Sol Lewitt: Glossy and Flat Black Squares." The performance will also include a talkback with artists and a reception immediately to follow.
